PriceHUD vs Comp Buddy
Both answer the same question while a live auction is running: what is this Pokémon card worth. Comp Buddy answers it in Chrome on a desktop, or on an iPhone once you screenshot the card and push it through the share sheet. PriceHUD answers it on the phone you are already watching the stream on, with the stream still playing.
Competitor pricing and install counts read 2026-09-01. Vendors change these. Check before you buy. PriceHUD's own details updated 2026-10-14.

What Comp Buddy does that PriceHUD does not
- It covers sports. Sports first, Pokémon second. PriceHUD is Pokémon only: no sports, no One Piece, no sealed product.
- It holds a searchable database of realized live-stream sold prices, free to search without a subscription. PriceHUD has no public equivalent, and logging sold prices from the iPhone path is a proposal rather than something that ships.
- Offer Assistant hands you three numbers to work from rather than one, with one-tap copy.
- It publishes. A blog, per-card pages and a Demand Board.
What PriceHUD does that Comp Buddy does not
- It delivers the price hands-free while the stream keeps playing. Comp Buddy's iPhone path needs a screenshot and a trip through the share sheet, and you are looking away from the stream for all of it.
- It puts the number in the Dynamic Island, over the stream rather than beside it.
- It gives the price away. The free tier is $0 with 100 priced cards a month. Comp Buddy's free tier is database search only; pricing a card live sits behind Pro at $15/month.
- It shows a break-even bid with fees, supplies and shipping already applied, rather than a market price you have to do the arithmetic on yourself.
- It is read-only. PriceHUD reads pixels on your own screen. It never touches the auction app, your account or any API, never bids, and automates nothing.
Pricing, read 2026-09-01
Comp Buddy. Free to search the sold price database. Pro is $15/month or $150/year with a 7-day trial that requires a card. In-app prices match the web prices, with no Apple markup, and the plan is feature-gated rather than metered by scans. The vendor's own terms read: "All subscription payments are final and non-refundable." The trial did not exist in May 2026 and was added later, so treat it as a 2026-09-01 reading.
PriceHUD. Free is $0 with 100 priced cards a month. Scanner is $12.99/month for 1,500 priced cards, and a read that fails never counts against the total. A $4.99 one-time top-up adds 500 more cards and requires Scanner. There is no free trial, no lifetime deal and no weekly plan.
A note on the numbers you will see quoted
Comp Buddy's Chrome listing showed 872 users and version 2.8.8 on 2026-09-01, against 841 on 2026-08-22. That is an install count, not a count of paying customers, and two readings ten days apart are not a growth rate. The listing has also carried four different names in a few months, so anything read off it goes stale quickly.
What this page deliberately does not claim
Comp Buddy names no external price feed, and publishes no coverage figure or refresh cadence, so this page makes no claim about whose prices are deeper or fresher. No head-to-head identification test exists between these two products, so this page makes no accuracy claim either. If that test ever runs, the result goes here.
Which one fits you
If you buy sports, or if you want a searchable history of what cards actually sold for on stream, Comp Buddy does things PriceHUD cannot do right now. If you watch Whatnot on your phone and want the price to appear over the stream without leaving it, that is the case for PriceHUD, and the free tier means you can test that on 100 cards a month without paying anything.
Free tier is 100 priced cards a month. Scanner is $12.99/month. On iPhone, download PriceHUD from the App Store, live since 2026-09-20. On desktop, install the PriceHUD Chrome extension, live on the Chrome Web Store since 2026-09-15. One account and one monthly count work on both. The iPhone app needs a Dynamic Island: iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max, or any iPhone 15, 16, 17 or Air, on iOS 17.2 or later. On an older iPhone the price lands on the Lock Screen instead. There is no Android build yet. The free web lookup at pricehud.com/lookup needs no app at all. More answers: the PriceHUD FAQ.
