PriceHUD vs Collectr
These two are not really competing for the same minute of your day. Collectr is a portfolio tracker and price guide for cards you already own, with camera scanning and a collection value chart, and it has no live-stream mode. PriceHUD prices the card on a live auction stream before the auction ends. If you buy on stream and also track a collection, there is a reasonable case for running both.

What Collectr does that PriceHUD does not
- It tracks a portfolio, with a real-time collection value chart. PriceHUD does not know what you own and does not try to.
- It scans a card in your hand with the camera. PriceHUD reads a card off a screen, which means it is no use to you at a card show or standing over a box in your garage.
- "Compare Grades", a one-screen ladder across grades.
- A Trade Analyzer, framed as answering "is this fair?".
- Shareable showcases of your collection.
- It runs on Android. PriceHUD does not. An Android build is being worked on and there is no date for it.
- It covers 20+ games and 200K products. PriceHUD covers Pokémon and nothing else.
- Collectr ranks on the App Store. On 2026-09-01 it ranked #1 on "pokemon card price" and "pokemon card value".
- It is the largest and best-resourced product in this comparison, by a distance. Five people, a $500K friends and family round, and eight figures of annual recurring revenue as reported by BetaKit. PriceHUD is one person working on it part time.
What PriceHUD does that Collectr does not
- It prices a card on a live auction stream, before the auction ends. Collectr has no live mode, and the scanner apps in this comparison all require pointing a camera at a card you already hold. That is the entire reason PriceHUD exists.
- It does not gate the price behind a lifetime scan cap. PriceHUD's free tier is 100 priced cards every month, which refills. Collectr's free portfolio is unlimited but its scanner is capped, and reviewers report that cap at around 35 scans for the lifetime of the account.
- It shows a break-even bid with fees, supplies and shipping already applied, rather than a market value you then have to reason backwards from.
- It says so when a printing is still ambiguous, and shows the low end in that case, so an uncertain identification does not turn into an overbid.
- It is read-only. PriceHUD reads pixels on your own screen. It never touches the auction app, your account or any API, never bids, and automates nothing.
Pricing, read 2026-09-01
Collectr. PRO is $7.99/month or $59.99/year, which the homepage presents as "$4.99 /mo billed annually · ($7.99 if billed monthly) · cancel anytime". The free tier gives you an unlimited portfolio with a capped scanner. The commonly quoted figure of around 35 lifetime scans comes from user reviews rather than from any vendor page, so treat it as reported rather than published, and check the current cap yourself.
PriceHUD. Free is $0 with 100 priced cards a month. Scanner is $12.99/month for 1,500 priced cards, and a read that fails never counts against the total. A $4.99 one-time top-up adds 500 more cards and requires Scanner. There is no free trial, no lifetime deal and no weekly plan.
A note on the numbers you will see quoted
Collectr's iOS listing showed 4.88 stars from 63,544 ratings on 2026-09-01, with its last release on 2026-08-15, and its Android listing showed over 1M installs. That is a large sample and it is a genuinely strong one. The App Store rankings quoted above are a 2026-09-01 snapshot taken from the iTunes Search API, and rankings move. The revenue figure is a BetaKit report of what the company says about itself, not an audited number.
What this page deliberately does not claim
Collectr names no price feed, so this page makes no claim about whose prices are deeper or fresher. No head-to-head identification test exists between these two products, so there is no accuracy claim here either. Nothing on this page should be read as a criticism of Collectr for lacking a live mode: it is a portfolio tracker and that is a different job.
Which one fits you
If what you want is to know what your collection is worth, to see it charted over time, to scan cards you already own, or to use any of this on Android, Collectr does all of that and PriceHUD does none of it. If your problem is the thirty seconds while a card is on screen and the bidding is moving, Collectr has no feature for that and PriceHUD is built for nothing else. They are complements more than they are rivals.
Free tier is 100 priced cards a month. Scanner is $12.99/month. On iPhone, download PriceHUD from the App Store, live since 2026-09-20. On desktop, install the PriceHUD Chrome extension, live on the Chrome Web Store since 2026-09-15. One account and one monthly count work on both. The iPhone app needs a Dynamic Island: iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max, or any iPhone 15, 16, 17 or Air, on iOS 17.2 or later. On an older iPhone the price lands on the Lock Screen instead. There is no Android build yet. The free web lookup at pricehud.com/lookup needs no app at all. More answers: the PriceHUD FAQ.
